07/21/2008 - It’s a Wild World
Greg’s Note: Investing in commodities can certainly be tricky business. Sometimes it feels like you have to have a degree in agricultural sciences just to decide what to invest in. And what’s the difference between an investor and a trader anyway? Well Kevin Kerr is here to clarify a few things for you, as well as keep you abreast of the commodities markets as a whole. Plus, he’s got a special guest to give you a little insight into currency and the Federal Reserve.

07/16/2008 - What Goes Up…
Greg’s Note: Some say that history is destined to repeat itself, that everything runs in cycles. For many areas of our world, this is true. But not always. Outstanding Investments’ Kevin Kerr explains that anyone waiting for a large commodities bubble to pop will wind up waiting indefinitely. We may just be seeing a changed world that will not recover from the grips of scarcity and limited supply. Thee are hungry mouths to feed and not enough to go around.

06/25/2008 - Making Tough Choices
Greg’s Note: We’ve been hearing for some time now about the rising costs of food in this country. The reason for these high costs are not as simple as some people think. Not only are we seeing record prices for grains and other crops, but also the high cost of fuel is making the harvesting of the crops in particular, as well as the simple shipping of the food across the country very expensive. Some prices are already out of hand and could still have a ways to go. Kevin Kerr visits with some farmers in the heartland and finds out what’s really going on in their heads.

06/23/2008 - Don’t Know What You Got
Greg’s Note: The 80’s hair metal band Cinderella once exclaimed that you “don’t know what you got (‘till it’s gone).” I’m sure this power ballad wasn’t meant to inform investors about the world’s agricultural markets, but the parable is certainly apt in today’s markets. Many of our most important resources are running out and at the very least, they are reaching historic price levels. And the worst part is, it seems like no one saw this coming.

06/06/2008 - Good Grief
Greg’s Note: Nothing good lasts forever. That’s one of the truest idioms we preach to ourselves, yet when the good times start to fade, we are often shocked and surprised. So when we’re going through a period of success and abundance, for some reason we forget how things always seem to even out. We expect the good times to keep on rolling.

05/12/2008 - Supply Chain
Greg’s Note: There’s been a recent boom in commodities markets. We’ve been talking about it for the past several weeks. But what are the reasons for this boom? Resource Trader Alert’s Kevin Kerr gives us a few explanations and discusses the supply side of some valuable resources.

05/08/2008 - A Small World After All
Greg’s Note: As much as the Fed tries to stave off inflation while still propping up the economy, it seems that we are in for more dollar trouble in the near and possibly distant future. Couple that with weather and other crop problems, and a big rally for agriculture and other resource commodities is what we can expect. Our commodity expert Kevin Kerr has been doing the leg work and finding out what lies ahead of us in the agricultural sector.

05/06/2008 - Farm Aid
Greg’s Note: With a great demand for a change in our energy consumption, the U.S. has been quick to follow in the footsteps of some of our international friends and adopt new and cutting edge fuels. Unfortunately, as the Resource Trader Alert’s Kevin Kerr informs us, we may have adopted a project that was doomed to fail from the beginning. We seem to have a history of identifying a problem and rushing to solution before really taking the necessary steps to find a real fix.

04/28/2008 - No Room at the Inn
Greg’s Note: For over a century, people from all over the world have seen the United States as a bastion of hope and freedom like no other place in the world. Millions have immigrated to America, bringing with them a melting pot of different cultures and ethnicities that have lasted for generations. The problem is, can we still afford to take in the huddled masses yearning to breath free while sustaining ourselves as well?

02/29/2008 - Being Right Simply Isn’t Enough!
Greg’s Note: Investing in commodities can sometimes be tough business. Outstanding Investments’ Kevin Kerr is a veteran and even he finds difficulty sometimes. If you follow Kevin’s advice, you’ll see that the smart trader makes the right trade, but the disciplined trader makes the money. Kevin is right most of the time, but is that really enough?

01/31/2008 - The Touch, the Feel
Greg’s Note: When looking for big gains in the commodities market, many factors often come into play. The availability of the resource and the demand for it, just like anything else, can be the biggest factors when making a pick. Commodities guru Kevin Kerr has his prediction for the big gainer in 2008. While the supply of this resource may shrink, some things never go out of style.

09/24/2007 - The Edible Portfolio
Greg’s Note: As a valued Whiskey shooter, you know quite a bit about Peak Oil. But have you ever heard of Peak Food? Resource Trader Alert’s Kevin Kerr is back to give you a picture of the near-future of the agricultural sector. Apparently it’s not looking too good — unless you’re prepared to speculate in the commodity markets, of course.

08/03/2007 - The Coming Resource War
Greg’s Note: Resource Trader Alert’s Kevin Kerr returns to Whiskey to provide a pretty freakin’ stark view of our collective future. He foresees possible World Wars fought to secure the earth’s limited and precious resources.

06/08/2007 - Trading Grains Can Deliver Serious Gains
Greg’s Note: Whiskey’s resident Maniac Trader, Kevin Kerr, is back today with a look at the grain market. He says there’s more money to be made in some of the forgotten grains than corn, and even in other commodities like gold and oil.

04/27/2007 - Standby Commodities
Greg's Note: Our resident Maniac Trader -- Kevin Kerr -- recently offered Whiskey readers an excerpt of his new book, which follows below. Please enjoy!

03/28/2007 - Golden Rule: Looking for Profits in All the Right Places
Greg's Note: The Maniac Trader returns! Kevin Kerr's back with a primer on today's gold market. Please enjoy...

11/24/2006 - Polishing the Crystal Ball
Greg’s Note: Today Kevin Kerr returns to W&G to give you the scoop on the commodity outlook for 2007. Does resource trend forecasting involve crystal balls or any other sort of magic powers? Kevin doesn’t think so. Finally, he mentions a little-mentioned metal that’s essential to the oil drilling industry.

04/15/2005 - Water, Water Everywhere, but Enough to Drink?
Safe water is scarce, and demand is surging for cultivators of nature's most important resource. Yes, oil is important, but not as important as staying alive. Water is something we take for granted, and it's a growing problem that nobody talks about at length.
